Payment methods and failed payments
Your card is held by Stripe and managed in the Stripe portal, and a failed payment gives you a 14 day grace window in which your paid tiers keep working.
Where the card lives
Keepface does not store card numbers. Stripe holds the card, and Keepface holds only a pointer to the Stripe customer plus a read-only summary.
Company settings, Billing, Payment method (/company/billing/payment-method) shows:
- The card brand, last four digits, expiry and issuing country
- The billing name and billing email that print on invoices
- A button that opens the Stripe billing portal
Changing the card
- Open Company settings, Billing, Payment method.
- Click the portal button. Keepface creates a portal session and sends you to Stripe.
- Add, replace or remove the card, update the billing details, download receipts.
- Return to Keepface. Changes flow back automatically.
Only owners and admins can open the portal or start a checkout.
When a payment fails
A declined card does not cancel anything straight away.
| Stage | What happens |
|---|---|
| Payment fails | The subscription is flagged past due and a 14 day grace window opens |
| During the grace window | Your paid tiers keep working exactly as before, and the billing page shows a warning banner with a link to fix the card |
| A payment succeeds | The flag is cleared immediately and the window closes |
| The window runs out | The paid tiers stop applying and the products fall back to Free |
The fastest fix is to update the card in the portal. Stripe retries the open invoice, and the moment it is paid your products are back to normal.
Two payments, two rails
Do not confuse the two ways money reaches Keepface:
| Subscriptions | Wallet top-ups | |
|---|---|---|
| What it pays for | Product tiers and add-ons | Outreach, unlocks, AI analysis, campaign funding |
| How it is charged | Recurring Stripe subscription on your card | One-time Stripe payment |
| Touches the wallet? | No, never | Yes, it credits your balance |
A subscription charge never draws on your Keepcoin balance, and a full wallet never pays an overdue subscription invoice.

Frequently asked questions
Why can I only see my card and not edit it?
Keepface never handles raw card data. The summary on the Payment method page is read from Stripe, and every change is made in the Stripe billing portal so card details never touch our servers.
My card was declined. Did I lose access immediately?
No. The subscription is marked past due and you keep your paid tiers for a 14 day grace window. Fix the card inside that window and nothing is interrupted.
Who on my team can change the card?
Owners and admins. Members and viewers can see billing pages but cannot open the portal or start a checkout.
The portal button says I have no billing customer.
That means the Company has never checked out. The Stripe customer is created on your first purchase, so make the first subscription or top-up and the portal appears.
