Turn a step into a campaign
Start on a step creates a draft campaign through the normal campaign create path, prefilled from the step, with nothing sent to anybody and the fields nobody could decide for you listed as yours to set.
Every step on the board that Keepface can run carries a Start this step button. It turns that one step into a draft campaign.
What happens when you press it
- The step is read as the board holds it, not as your screen is showing it. If a budget preview was showing a different count, the card says so, because accepting a smaller plan is its own act (see Correct the plan).
- The campaign is created through the same create path your own New campaign button uses, so every gate on that path applies: your plan tier, your workspace permissions and the ordinary validation.
- The card then shows three lists: What we filled in, What is still yours to set and Worth knowing.
What gets filled in
- Name, the step’s own title, in the plan’s language
- Recruitment, invite only, because every figure on the step was computed from a list selection and a public campaign has no pool to price or forecast from
- Language
- Deliverable, one row, one post per influencer, which is the number the quote was computed against
- Compensation, when the plan computed a per-influencer fee and the campaign currency matches the currency that fee is held in
- Brief, assembled from the concept, the format rules and the disclosure your market requires by law
What is left for you
| Field | Why it is not filled |
|---|---|
| Start date | Nothing on the board decides when you want to start |
| Service mode | It is yours to accept. Setting it stamps a terms version and is a one-way step, see Choose a service mode |
| Cover image | The board holds no image, and a wrong cover is visible to every influencer contacted |
| The brief’s message | The rules and the law can be assembled, what you want said cannot |
| The deliverable, sometimes | When the plan could not resolve a platform or a format we offer, you pick it in one click |
Nothing in that table is guessed. A field with nowhere honest to get a value from arrives empty rather than wrong.
When a step cannot be started
The board refuses in words, and it refuses before creating anything:
- You run this step, not us. The plan says the executor is your own team, so there is nothing for us to bill or run.
- We cannot execute this mechanic. Our own playbook says this is not something Keepface runs.
- We execute part of it. The card names the part we cannot.
- Your plan does not stretch to this. A tier gate, with a link to the plans.
- You are not allowed to create campaigns in this workspace. A workspace permission, see workspace roles.
A step that is out of plan after a budget fit cannot be started either, until the budget goes back up.
After it is created
Press Open the campaign and finish it the way you would any other: the brief, the dates, the service mode, the targets and the launch checklist. See Create your first campaign and Launch checklist.
The step on the board is then marked Already started and links to the campaign it made. If you later rebuild the plan, that step and the direction above it are kept, see Correct the plan and what that changes.
Frequently asked questions
Does Start send invitations?
No. It creates a draft campaign and nothing else. No invitation, no notification, no schedule, no money and no service mode.
What happens if I press Start twice?
You get the same campaign back, not a second one. One campaign per step, and the card says it is the one this step already made.
Why will the board not start one of my steps?
Either the step is one you run rather than one we run, or the mechanic behind it is not something Keepface can execute today (in whole or in part). The card says which, in words.
Why does the campaign contact a different number of influencers than my screen showed?
Because a budget preview is a preview until you accept it. Start uses the plan as saved, and says out loud when the two numbers differ.
Which fields are left empty on purpose?
Start date, service mode and cover image, and anything the plan could not resolve. None of them is guessed, because a wrong value in any of them is visible to every influencer you contact or costs you money.
