Read a campaign brief
Read for deliverables, deadlines, brand voice, required mentions, exclusivity, and usage rights. The brief is the contract; ambiguity hurts you in disputes.
Read these sections carefully
- Deliverables, count, format, platform, length. If unclear, ask before accepting.
- Deadline, exact date + your timezone. Can you actually meet it?
- Required mentions, handle, hashtag, link, disclosure. Missing one = dispute risk.
- Brand voice / banned words, formal vs casual, specific language to avoid.
- Exclusivity, are you barred from working with competitors during the campaign?
- Usage rights, how long can the brand reuse your content?
Red flags
- Vague deliverable description (“post about our product”), push back for specifics
- Deadline < 48 hours, too tight; ask for an extension before accepting
- Required exclusivity > 30 days for a single-post deal, high cost for the price
- Permanent usage rights at low fee, value your content fairly
Counter-offer
Don’t accept what doesn’t work. Use the chat to negotiate budget, deadline, or scope. Brands often have flex.
