Reactions, replies and mentions

Every message in a conversation has two actions attached to it, and a third one lives in the message box itself.

Get to the actions

• On a computer, move the pointer over a message. A small pill appears above it with a reply arrow and a smiley.
• On a touch screen, tap the bubble once. The same pill pins itself open. Tap elsewhere to close it.

React to a message

1. Open the pill and press the smiley
2. Pick one of the quick reactions: 👍 ❤️ 😂 😮 🙏 🔥
3. Or press + to open the full picker and choose anything else

The reaction appears as a small chip under the message, with a count when several people used the same one. Tap a chip to add that reaction yourself, or to take yours back.

Reactions work the same way in brand threads and in Circle direct messages.

Quote reply

1. Open the pill and press the reply arrow
2. A bar appears above the message box showing what you are answering, with a photo, video, voice or file label when the original had no text
3. Write your answer and send, or press the x on the bar to cancel

Use this when a brand sends five points at once and you only want to answer the third.

Emoji in the message itself

The smiley button in the message box opens a categorised emoji picker and inserts the emoji at your cursor. A message that is nothing but emoji is rendered large instead of as normal text.

Mentions

@mentions are a Circle group chat feature, not a brand chat feature. In a Circle chat, typing @ opens a member list so you can address one person, and @circle addresses everyone in that circle. Each circle also has its own bell menu with three levels: all new posts, just mentions, or muted. “Just mentions” covers @you, @circle and replies to your own messages.

Brand campaign threads and one to one Circle direct messages have exactly two participants, so there is nobody to mention and no mention list appears.
