Get your profile classified
Classification only runs on an Instagram or TikTok account that has a profile picture, a bio, followers, at least 12 recent posts, and at least 5,000 followers on your largest account.
Being classified is what makes you eligible for brand lists. Until the AI pass has run, you match nothing, no matter how complete the rest of your profile looks. The pass is deliberately strict: it will not spend a model call on an account it cannot read properly.
The five requirements
Every one of these is checked on the social account, not on your Keepface profile, and all of them must pass.
| # | Requirement | What it means in practice |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | A profile picture | The account must have a real avatar image, readable from the public profile |
| 2 | A bio | Any non-empty bio. An empty bio fails the check outright |
| 3 | A follower count | The scrape must have read a follower number above zero |
| 4 | At least 12 recent posts | Keepface must hold 12 or more recent posts from that account |
| 5 | 5,000 followers or more | Measured on your largest Instagram or TikTok account |
If any one fails, the pass stops and nothing is written. There is no error on your side, it simply does not happen, which is why a profile can sit unclassified for a long time without anything looking wrong.
Only Instagram and TikTok
The classifier reads Instagram and TikTok. YouTube, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Telegram and Snapchat accounts are stored, shown on your profile and useful to brands, but they are not what the classification is built from. If your only connected account is a YouTube channel, no classification will run.
What to do, in order
- Connect an Instagram or TikTok account from Settings, socials. See Connect your socials.
- Make sure the account is public. A private account exposes nothing to read.
- Fill the bio on the social platform itself, not just on Keepface. The bio the AI reads is the one on Instagram or TikTok.
- Post. You need 12 recent posts on the account before the pass will consider it.
- Wait for the sweep. Classification runs from a background job that picks up eligible, not-yet-classified accounts. It is not instant.
What the AI actually reads
Once you qualify, the pass looks at your profile picture and recent post images, then scores you against the Keepface taxonomy. The weight each signal carries is fixed:
| Signal | Weight |
|---|---|
| Your bio | Highest |
| Your username and your external link | High |
| A visual element that recurs across posts | High |
| Story highlights, a topic that recurs in captions, a visible brand collaboration | Medium |
| Your profile photo | Low |
| A one-off visual or a single caption | Lowest |
Two consequences follow from that table:
- Your bio does most of the work. “Specialty coffee reviews and brewing tutorials, Istanbul” produces sharp, high-scoring tags. “Dreamer. Traveler. Living my best life” produces almost nothing the classifier can score.
- Repetition beats variety. A signal only scores highly when it recurs. One post about skincare is nearly worthless; twelve posts that are recognisably about skincare are a dominant tag.
Only the most recent posts are read, and long captions are truncated, so front-load the meaningful words in a caption rather than burying them under a wall of hashtags.
After it runs
Your status flips to classified, your tags are written, and from then on:
- The hourly list placement sweep starts matching you into lists
- Your public profile shows your categories and tags
- You become visible in brand search and in list-targeted campaigns
It will not run again on its own. See Understand classification and tags for what to do if the result is wrong.

Frequently asked questions
How many posts do I need?
Twelve. Keepface has to have read at least 12 recent posts from the account before the classifier will look at it. Fewer than 12 and the pass silently does nothing.
I have 3,000 followers. Will I be classified?
Not yet. The classifier only runs when your largest Instagram or TikTok account is at 5,000 followers or more. Your profile and your public page still work, you just are not placed on brand lists.
Nothing happened after I connected my account. Is it broken?
Classification runs from a background sweep, not instantly, and it runs only once the account has been scraped and passes every requirement. If your account meets all of them and days pass with no result, contact support.
Does a private Instagram account work?
No. Keepface reads your public profile and recent posts. A private account produces no bio, no posts and no metrics, so nothing can be classified.
Do YouTube or LinkedIn count?
Not for classification. Only Instagram and TikTok accounts are read by the classifier, though your other platforms still appear on your profile.
